The Girl Power Tag
I love a good tag post. It helps me when I am having a bit of a blogging drought, and sometimes it can inspire me to go on and do other posts.
So I was tagged by Hollie from Hollie Rose Blog for the Girl Power tag so here it goes ...
What Does Girl Power Mean To You?
Honestly the first image that springs to mind is the Spice Girls. All union jack dress, platform shoes and wannabe. I grew up with girl power, as a 90s baby and I remember when I was at school studying Emmaline Pankhurst and realising just how much women had to fight to get the rights we all take for granted now. I think Girl Power should mean empowering not only ourselves but other women and we should all try and build each other up a bit. Sometimes its hard to be a woman and we shouldn't make things harder for each other!!
What Is The Best Advice You Can Give To Girls Who Want To Be Powerful?
Believe in yourself. In this world there is always going to be someone who tries to tell you that you cant do something. You need to be your own cheerleader (and I need to take my own advice)
If you could have any super power, what would it be and how would you use it?
I would want to read minds. Possibly my anxiety talking here but I spend far too much time worrying and wondering what other people are thinking and so if I could just know that would be amazing!!
Show Us Your Best Girl Power Pose
So I thought I would treat you to two here! The one on the Left makes me smile. This was about 4 and a half years ago. I hadn't been with Tom long and most importantly I hadnt had that many health problems yet. I was happy and content and just loving life (and In hindsight wearing far too short skirts) The one on the right is me in maybe 1997 doing the CLASSIC spice girls girl power sign so naturally it needed to be included in this post!!
What beauty product makes you feel powerful?
Its got to be a spritz of good perfume! At the moment my favourite is flowerbomb by Victor Rolf
Why is it important to have power girls as role models?
I want girls to realise that they can do whatever they want. I think the media in general has done a crappy job and trying to show us we need to be a certain way to be perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect person, and regardless of what you look like / smell like/ do for a living no one gets out of this alive. So be healthy. Be happy.
What Young Up and Comer do you think is powerful and why?
Ive found this question difficult to answer. There are a lot of youtubers that I watch, but I feel me watching as a 25 year old is a lot different from someone of 12+ looking up to them as a role model. I think some are selling the message that everyone can do this as their job which is simply untrue. I also think that a lot of them are making young people believe that they need all this stuff in the hauls to be happy.
So, realistically, I dont think I can pick an up and comer!
Anyway thanks for reading! I tag ... whoever wants to do this post!!
