The Old Joint Stock, Birmingham

Last week my whole family and I went out to celebrate my husband getting a full time job after finsishing his PHD. We chose the Old Joint Stock in Birmingham specifically so that he could test out the ale and pie tasting board. Consisting of three pies, each matched with an ale, its every ale (and pie) lovers dream!

The menu had something for everyone! My mom opted for the pear and walnut salad as she was trying to be healthy. My brother and dad had the fish and chips, and were served the largest piece of frontier battered fish I have ever seen. Me? I went for the gnocchi.

Last week I went completely off meat. I can't explain it but I just couldn't face it. So I opted for the gnocchi with mozzarella and spinach in a creamy tomato sauce. It was bloody gorgeous! A lovely sized portion, ridiculously fresh and just melted in the mouth! I may have also had a cheeky glass of prosecco ...

I couldn't say no to pudding, especially when I saw the words served with salted caramel ice cream. I opted for the vintage ale and molasses sticky toffee pudding, and it was possibly the best dessert I have ever eaten.

Its located on Temple Row West, so right in the centre of Birmingham. I really recommend giving it a try!
