Food: Crafty

Recently Tom and I made the decision that we would start trying out some of the independent food chains in Leicester that we have been saying we wanted to try ever since we first met (over 5 years ago now). So for his birthday last month we invited my parents up and all went To Crafty St Martins.

With a focus on quality coffee, during the day St Martins is a coffee shop in Leicester which also does amazing breakfast and lunch. Situated among the independent shops in St Martins area of Leicester it is a really laid back place to go for coffee, food and a spot of blogging!

On a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night though it really comes into its own with turning into the burger restaurant Crafty! With locally sourced ingredients (the bread comes from a bakery in blaby and the cheese comes from Leicester market) this really is a local business worth shouting about.

The beef is ground on site daily and this leads to what I think is the freshest burgers I have ever tasted. The one above was actually Toms and it is The red one. I opted for the mushroom burger ... I am not a vegetarian but I do enjoy vegetarian food! I have to say that usually I find burger joints add on the veggie option as an after thought, but not here, a huge mushroom in panko breadcrumbs, Applewood celeriac and slaw ... my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

All of the burgers come with skin on fries which you can pimp! There are four options to pimping your fries and as there were four of us we went for all four to share. My personal favourite are the gringo fries as they have pulled pork, cheese, chilli ketchup and pineapple and I am an actual fiend when it comes to sweet and savoury.

My dad went for the biggest burger on the menu and here he is tucking in ...

Anyway, if you are local and haven't been to crafty ... why not?
