FOODIE: Middletons Steakhouse and Grill Leicester

Located in the former Natwest bank in the popular foodie hotspot of St Martins in Leicester, Middletons is a welcome edition to the food scene. The bright interior lends itself to being perfect for any occasion, the booths looked perfect for a cosy date night while the other tables were perfect for a girls lunch date. After seeing on the Cool As Leicester instagram page that as an opening offer there would be 50% off the food bill as an opening offer if we booked a table for lunch, I got my girls Kirstie and Amy together and booked our table!

We decided to make the most of the offer and opt for the three course lunch deal (Which at £10.95 normally is a steal in itself - even better at our discounted price of £5.50!) I knew that I wanted to go for a fish starter because my main was going to be without a doubt a steak! It was a tough choice between the prawn cocktail and the calamari but I am so glad I chose the prawn cocktail! I'm a sucker for anything with avocado and although there wasn't a lot of it, it complimented the prawn and smoked salmon based dish perfectly. The soda bread was also delicious, obviously fresh and completely moreish!

Like I said before I knew that I would be having the steak! I asked the waiter how he recommended having the minute steak and he said nothing more than medium. This was medium rare and was simply divine! Im sure I would shock most of my friends if I told them I used to be a vegetarian! On my waiters recommendation I also went with the dauphinoise potatoes and they were delicious, just the right amount of creamy without feeling sickly. The only thing I would say is that the grilled tomato and mushroom come with the dish and I think I would rather have had a salad or a choice when it came to the vegetable portion. However in the grand scheme of things this is only a small thing.

By dessert I was almost bursting (Thank goodness for stretchy leggings!) and unfortunately they had run out of the sticky toffee pudding which I had ordered, but they brought me their chocolate pot instead. I think the only way I can describe this was decadent. The chocolate melted in my mouth and the biscuit was soft and crumbly.

I left a very happy customer and have already requested that Tom take me back for a date night! I would love to try out more of their seafood as the mussels and the half a lobster sound particularly delicious ... and actually so do their burgers, especially the vegetarian offerings!

If you haven't already you should head over to their website and take a look at their mouth watering menu!
