Last year I spent a lot of time working on my mental health. I read a lot of books and came to the conclusion that I was no longer going to spend my life putting things on hold until I was thin. I also decided that there was going to be no number on a scale that would be my end goal, I wanted to tune more into how my body was feeling. As of yet, I have not set a target weight on Slimming World and I dont really intend to I know eventually I will have to, to become a target member I will need that number, but for now I am content.
Last year I read Mel Wells The Goddess revolution and while I am conflicted on some of the advice the book gives there was a chapter that really stood out to me. She talks about how you need to imagine your ideal routine, you know the one you promise yourself you'll stick to everyday in january and then feel guilty when day three you cant be bothered to get out of bed? Her advice is to write down your ideal day and then make steps to achieve it rather than doing it all at once! Genius.
The things I want to achieve?
More Yoga and Meditation. I find that both of these things do fantastic things for both my mental health and my physical health. Ideally id like to be doing both of these things everyday but at first I would like to do yoga once a week and meditate for just 10 minutes everyday. I can manage that.
More Reading. I saw a poster in my library that said reading is to the brain what exercise is to the body and I loved it!
More time offline. Seems a strange one for someone who is going to be blogging more this year but bear with me. I want to stop mindlessly scrolling through instagram and twitter. I want to spend my time better. You know when you come online for a quick check and suddenly its 45 minutes later and you have no idea what you are doing with your life. Well thats got to change.
More colour in my wardrobe. Despite my love for dresses of all colours I tend to shy away from dressing the way I really want to in the UK so as not to stand out, well I am sick of this. 2017 is going to be the year of wearing my wardrobe (which you will see over on Shoestring Chic)
More date nights. Me and Tom have been saying for ages that we want to go out more and try more of Leicester's independant restaurants and so this year we are going to be planning more date nights. I am really looking forward to getting a bit more dolled up!
More self love. This one is so important to mental health, I have to keep on loving myself no matter what. Every single day I will be treating myself well and not beating myself up.
More supporting other bloggers. I really want to bring back my weekly favourite posts. I remember when I first started blogging people used to share each others posts because they liked them and wanted to help each other out. Things have become more judgy and selfish lately and I want to help to change that. So this means more commenting on other blogs and generally just shouting about how wonderful others are!
