My July Goals



July is here and even though my favourite season is Autumn, July is without a doubt my favourite month because it's my birthday! Although I'm turning 27 this year and have only done one of the things I said I'd do by 25 I'm strangely optimistic! I don't like setting rigid goals as that's just a route to feeling guilt if you don't achieve them, I think it will help me to set a bit of a strategy each month! So here is July's ...

Put my mental health first. 

In July I am going to be 100 percent selfish. I'm not going to agree to things I don't want to do and I am going to take some me time. My anxiety has got to a point where I am sitting on my break at 3am and I can feel my heart racing and its telling me something horrendous has happened to my husband. I am walking up 3 or 4 times in the night sweating and my heart racing for no apparent reason. I am going to try and make a doctors appointment but I am also going to do a lot of self care.

Daily Yoga/ Stretching

If you read my last post you will have seen that at the moment I am pretty scared of my own thoughts and it is putting me off meditation, however I signed up for the Yogaia service and am planning to do a 10-15 minute stretch or yoga session in the morning as soon as I wake up and also just before I go to bed! 
Daily Symprove and Supplements

I have been doing a lot of research into the things my gut needs to try and heal it. As I am sure everyone who reads my blog is aware I suffer from IBS-D and obviously with my anxiety being so bad recently it has a knock on effect on my gut! I am cutting out insoluble fibre as I have identified this as a massive trigger, and taking a daily shot of Symprove. I also take vitamin B complex, vitamin D, zinc and omegas. 

Meal Planning and Recipes

I have been terrible at planning my meals recently, and we tend to end up going out to eat or popping to the co-op more often than I would like to admit. Now I am armed with a list of foods I want to include daily in my diet (oats being the big thing I want to eat more of) I am going to start meticulously planning my weeks. I am on the hunt for quick and easy recipes I can make in under 20 minutes for before night shifts so if you have any ideas send them my way!

Make the most of weekends.

Since spending a spontaneous weekend in Skegness with Tom I realised the power of a good weekend to relax and recoup. I always see the saying A Sunday well spent brings a week of content on instagram and I have never seen just how true it is before. I want to spend Sundays baking and cooking and watching crap on telly. I want to go to car boot sales, tea rooms, parks. I am also considering a social media blackout at weekends ... but don't hold me to that!

I'm so sorry to hear your anxiety is keeping you up at night! :( I highly recommend the app Headspace, it's completely free although you can subscribe but it has 10 free (I think) meditation "lessons" which only last a few minutes. I found doing these before bed helped calm me down and helped me sleep - I should really redownload the app actually.

    As for meal planning, I spend one day (normally towards the end of the month before we do our monthly shop) meal planning. Scrolling endlessly on BBC Good Food or even Pinterest and Google looking for meal ideas, it's surprising what you find. Another thing I did, and this might help with you enjoying your weekend, we go to Measham carboot quite regularly and last year I managed to pick up 16 food magazines for just £1 they've honestly been a life-safer for mealtimes!! x
